Students will create 2 ornaments in this class, learning the process of using molds with Quikwood to make embellishments. Embellishments will be applied to a banana gourd, and then we will use acrylic paints to achieve a verdigris finish.

A cute basket with a gourd base. Participants will weave on the gourd creating a pattern with colored reed and put beads at the top to complete the rim of the basket.

This project has a simple filigree pattern combined with eggshells for the turtle. Eggshells will be dyed to the color you wish your turtle to be. Project is easy for someone who is just getting into creating filigree patterns.

Students Need to Bring: Power drill, Dremel or Carver with small bits for outlining the wave patterns, and sanding disc for removing the skin where the filigree will be. I will have filigree bits for students to use or you may bring your own. Please bring a mask and apron. I will supply the gourds, paints, and eggshells.

Have you ever seen a pumpkin with roving eyes? Well, you’re about to create one! This is a very simple class appropriate for everyone. We have our basic orange pumpkin with a little shading in the deep crevices and his smile (or frown) will be your own. His roving eyes can be positioned any way you like, making him truly unique!

Will make a fun and spooky cemetery inside of the gourd for Halloween. You will make a tree from wire, a fence and a couple tombstones from foam. Then add accessories to complete the scene. I will supply a prepared gourd. We will concentrate on the cemetery. I will have creepy cloth on the Gourd for you to paint at a later time.

In this class we will be making two mice out of egg gourds. We will sculpt with quick wood the features and limbs, make the tail and insert whiskers. Then we will paint them to look like your favorite mice.
