A swatch of filigree beginning at the top of the gourd and gracefully angling down to the lower portion of circle. Colorful fused glass cabachons will be available for use to make the body. Patterns will be available or bring your own.

Old Hooty is hiding in his tree waiting for you to paint him. This project is painted on a “Penguin” or “people” gourd. Project will be traced and ready for you to paint. Teacher will provide all paints. However, if you have a #1 liner, a ½” angle brush, and a flat ½” brush, please bring, as my supply is limited. An IdentiPen will be furnished which student can take home.

You will learn to correctly condition your clay to avoid air pockets, create shapes, and textures in the clay. You will learn how to adjust the thickness of your design and create unique patterns using different pieces of equipment and stamps. All pieces will be sealed and ready to inlay into a gourd or bead embroidered or used as a keychain or pendant.

Gourd bowls will be prepared (cleaned, painted, sealed) with spokes in ready for you to weave your creative colorful bowl/basket. we will use a three rod wale and a regular flat reed weave around the basket and finish off with a nice rim.

My mom always said you can’t soar with the eagles in the morning if you hoot with the owls at night, so let’s do some Hootin’. This is an intermediate to advanced class painting project. Student needs lots of patience and a steady hand for detail. Identi-pen will be provided that student can take home.

DEBORAH HILDINGER
In this workshop, participants will work with a pre-dyed gourd to explore carving, line work, and intricate filigree designs. Individuals who own a wood burner are encouraged to use it; otherwise, Sharpies may be used to add detailed elements.
To complete each project, participants will incorporate beads, a paper rush rim, and botanical accents. Please note that the supplied beads for adhering to the gourd are size 11/0, which are quite small; reading glasses may be necessary, and spare pairs will be available. We look forward to seeing your creative outcomes.

Students will cut out leaf patterns and design their own tree spirit on a prepped gourd. We will use color pencils to bring life to the features. Students can take home the color pencils and blender to use on their own future projects.

You will learn how to bead embroider around a cabochon and finish it with a picote edge. These can be mounted on the front any gourd piece without having to inlay. at the end of the class you will take home a thumb drive with a video of step by step to be able to do more of them when you want to. No more having to have gourds thick enough to be able to inlay stones as your focal point of your design.

Learn how to marble on a precut gourd that has been prepped for coiling. You will also learn how to coil with round reed and add beads if you wish. All materials provided which includes; precut and prepped gourd to marble that you will do in class and take home, and in class you will also get to coil on a piece already done. Students will learn how to create layers of dots and colors of alcohol ink on a clean, dried, and prepped mini gourd. They will choose from a variety of stone, metal, glass, etc. beads to make a beautiful necklace to wear or share. Students will also learn some how to utilize some basic jewelry making findings and fasteners.
