Learn how to respect “invasives” from the perspective of how hard they reach out to you. Learn all about gathering, splitting, storing, dying from many angles, and how these materials can fit on gourd rims!

Come paint this over the top snowman and his feathered friends. Students will paint this snowman project using the Mary Owens technique pen/ink rouging, from Sandy Jordan a certified Mary Owens instructor. This project will be painted on a prepared milk bottle gourd. The fence in the picture is not part of the project.

Coil with dyed paper rush with a simple stitch on a pre-dyed gourd. Students will be able to custom dye with heat set inks the dowels and beads to personal preference along with picking their own thread color choice. The beauty of this coiled project is no water is involved. Also taught will be how to over coil to create a spiral ending.

This is a project that is great for beginning or intermediate etching students. It lets your imagination flow as you etch (carve around the gourd). The student learns how to work with curved lines as well as spaces in the leaves.

We will make a Christmas Gnome with faux fur and a leather hat. Then you will decorate your hat with Christmas embellishments. These are fun to make. Finished gourds range in height 7-12 inches.

Who doesn’t love the pinks, oranges and yellows of the summer zinnia? This vase type gourd will have a completely prepared background and ready to paint. If student owns a size 8 or 10 flat brush that would be helpful in class. Wear a smile and an apron!

We will sculpt an adorable Santa ornament (or two) on a banana gourd using the 2-part epoxy Quikwood and a layering method. During class we will also learn how to sculpt and add accessories to your Santa. Enough material is given for multiple sculptures and a 12-page tutorial (4 color pages) so you can continue creating for your Christmas tree, or gift giving!
(Note: we will concentrate on sculpting only; please plan to paint your ornament later. I will share tips on painting your ornaments!)

The gourd is pre-cut and inked/sprayed and decoupaged with the wild rose pattern inside. Students will spoke the gourd and learn a few types of weaving to complete the basket in class.

Explore the fun on using ash to create the color black. The carved circles will be applied with ash. This class definitely take your ardor to the next level. The class will include basic for beginners and creative option for the experienced. This is a technique class that will be finished in class.

Spend the morning building a totem pole of “leaning” Jack-O-Lanterns. Learn to lean your gourds with the use of Tonia Owen's "angle tool". Draw, carve, and dye your faces.
This project will not be finished in class. Students will receive a bottle of orange Artisan Dye to take home to complete the project.
