Try your hand at a little ombre effect painting on a small circular gourd piece and then mimic the ombre effect with closed coiling stitches. All paints, brushes, gourd prepped pieces, paper cord and threads provided. Relaxing class

HAT BURNING CLASS

Students will learn what type of material works to wood burning techniques, what tools to use to transfer from a stencil or freehand designs on the hat and wood burning tools and tips that work best. Hats will be neutral color with wide flat brim ( Note: NOT curved brim like in Western style hats )
 

In addition, students will have a second hat to burn that the instructor uses to practice on prior to the flat brim hat. These are baseball cap style. Therefore, two hats are given to each student to take home. Plus, a mini hat bar to boot!

GOURD BOWL WITH FILIGREE LID

Gourd Bowl with Filigree Lid. My gourd is a cannon ball;7” in diamenter.
In this class we’ll learn to create a bowl with a metal filigree lid. We’ll use Apoxie Sculpt modelling clay to create textured images. We’ll use metal paints and patinas to replicate the look of the metal lid and also decorate the background areas of the gourd. I will provide the Metal Lid, Apoxie Sculpt, paint and patina. Students may not be able to complete the project but will leave with all the knowledge and skills to finish the project at home.

Students must bring: Students should bring a cannon ball gourd, saw or another tool to cut the hole, and their preferred tool for cleaning the inside of the gourd.

Spotty Dotty Beaded Necklace

Students will learn how to create layers of dots and colors of alcohol ink on a clean, dried, and prepped mini gourd. They will choose from a variety of stone, metal, glass, etc. beads to make a beautiful necklace to wear or share. Students will also learn some how to utilize some basic jewelry making findings and fasteners.
